  • The Lead Engineer will be responsible for all CAR-OPS 1, CAR M requirements in order to ensure the continuing airworthiness and to maintain the aircraft safety standard.
  • She/he will be responsible to liaise with internal and external stakeholders to maintain and improve the A380 Airframe systems within the design specifications in order to optimize on-time performance and maintenance cost to meet management and customer satisfaction.
  • Job Responsibilities:
  • Review, incorporation and follow up on all airframe systems and components (except engine) related Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins on Etihad Airways A380 fleet to ensure that all mandatory and non mandatory modifications are properly assessed, decided and complied in a timely manner to maintain aircraft airworthiness and safety standard.
  • Evaluation of reliability data and perform root cause analysis to develop or identify corrective actions. Create a business case for decision making, develop and prioritize an implementation plan with internal and external stakeholder to improve the fleet reliability and on-time performance.
  • Review of A380 systems design, components and material selection with vendors and provide recommendation from in-service issues to capture all improvements and ensure a quality, reliable, repairable and maintainable product is delivered to Etihad.
  • The Lead Engineer shall design, compile and issue Engineering Orders, Special Checks and Additional Engineering Requirements (AER’s) based on approved maintenance data for the purpose of modification, aircraft status assessment for reliability and safety issues and to ensure accomplishment of additional work to provide solutions to on-going technical problems.
  • Ensure compliance with the regulatory requirements of the ageing aircraft programs (repair assessment, corrosion prevention and control, widespread fatigue damage programs).
  • Incorporation of company requested airframe modifications. Additional modifications, which are requested by the internal customers (e.g. Flight Operations, etc.) shall be technically and commercially assessed and presented in a meaningful format for management decision and approval.
  • Review and recommend engineering specifications for airframe systems and components selection on new/used aircraft that are joining the Etihad fleet.
  • Carry out any technical projects as directed by the Etihad Engineering management (e.g. End of aircraft lease).

Job Requirements:
Education and Experience:

Tertiary qualifications that meet the eligibility requirements for membership as a charted engineer (e.g. Bachelor degree in the field of Aeronautical, Mechanical or Electrical/Electronics engineering) and 5 years job-related experience OR a 10 years jobr elated experience in the field of Technical Commercial Aviation or Airline Engineering is generally preferred.


Training & Knowledge:
Formal knowledge in aircraft systems engineering with emphasis to Part M/ CAR M Regulations and a specific type training course on Etihad operated aircraft is required.
Valid continuation training of applicable regulatory training requirements (Human Factor, Fuel Tank Safety, EWIS, Legislation Part M/ CAR M, ETOPS and SMS)
Knowledge/ Experience in financial airline management or project management is advantageous.
