Job Overview:
Required to lead cross-departmental teams, develop business cases on highly confidential and strategic Fleet related initiatives to reduce cost and improve performance and profitability. Driving reconfiguration opportunities through a proactive and value led proposition.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Long term strategy-Evaluation of long term strategic fleet requirements (configurations) across Etihad and partner airline synergies to reduce costs and improve business functionality and fleet consistency within the equity group
  • Cost Efficiency-Develop initiatives across the partner airline group to drive cost efficiencies and improve fleet integration and synergies amongst partner airlines reconfigurations.
  • Fleet technology-Evaluate competing aircraft to ensure selected aircraft meets EY and partner airline requirements in terms of passenger and cargo capacity, aircraft performance (revenue generation), minimization of capital and operating costs, operational reliability and product matters.
  • Commercial focus -Responsible for the overall fleet performance, by evaluating the commercial performance of the fleet, identifying any opportunities to optimize profitability and motivate change at a senior level where commercially justifiable.
  • Fleet Strategy-Be the center of expertise internally for fleet strategies and industry trends.
  • Closely Monitoring competitor strategies to provide advantageous insight into how best to use our own fleet and combat competitor actions
  • Fleet Management-Lead the relevant internal & external parties with introduction of new fleet ensuring effective communication, coordination and project management. Mitigating risk and escalating and planning relevant issues as they occur. 
  • Business Case Management -Prepare business cases and approvals for submission to senior management and the board. Guiding and advising PCEO, Chief’s and Executives & other senior stakeholders with clear and concise, verbal and written reports, on the best opportunities for business growth
  • Stakeholder Management – (internal)-Lead cross-departmental project groups to identify new requirements and synergies ensuring optimization of profitability and satisfaction of multiple complex requirements (e.g. capacity and network, cargo, aircraft performance, operations, finance, marketing and technical).
  • Setting clear agendas and conduct appropriate coordination meetings with EY departments to ensure all actions, issues and risks are identified, assigned and resolved in a professional manner.
  • Stakeholder Management – (external)-Work with third party aircraft lessors and manufacturers to continually track aircraft availability and evaluate leased aircraft opportunities. Maintain contact and good business relations to support commercial partnership in a global arena to support Etihad and equity Partner requirements
Job Requirements:
Qualification & Education:
  • Educated to a minimum of degree level in a finance, commerce or related field.
  • Professional post-graduate qualification such as chartered accountant, MBA would be an advantage, although not essential.
  • Post holder must have a minimum of 12 years experience with a reputable airline
  • At least 5 years strategic planning experience with proven ability in developing, presenting and supporting business cases and managing projects with a high degree of interaction and communication with all levels in the organization.
Training & Knowledge:
  • Recognised IATA or Airline Certification in Fleet planning, an advantage
  • Industry leading numeracy skills, with a thorough understanding of financial concepts
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills
  • Thorough understanding of aircraft cost drivers
  • Understanding of airline revenue concepts and aircraft performance factors
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal English
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Project Management skill
  • Must be computer literate in Word, Power Point, & MS Office applications
  • High computer literacy in Microsoft Office projects and particularly Excel
