The university offers bachelor's degrees in Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Interior Design.

The university was founded in 1999 for the purpose of serving the national and regional community through equipping the young generations with the necessary knowledge and skills to fit to the development and productivity of their communities. Al Ghurair University is licensed by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. All bachelor degree programs offered by AGU have been granted accreditation.

Job Overview:
To work with other professionals within the counseling team to provide therapeutic counseling to students of the University who are experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties which may be hindering their functioning to their full potential.
To contribute to activities in the wider University concerned with promoting student emotional and psychological wellbeing.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Human Psychology from an accredited college/university.   
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years experience of working in a counseling environment within an Education Industry.
  • Candidate should be Customer focused with good Interpersonal communication, Decision making and Problem Solving skills.
  • Candidate should be Computer literate with ability to use utilities like MS office.
  • Candidate should be Arabic Speaker with fluent English as a second language.

Job Duties:
  • To provide confidential counseling of a professional standard to students of the University.
  • To maintain a professional caseload of student clients, using appropriate therapeutic interventions and contracts
  • To keep accurate clinical records of sessions in line with professional guidelines, confidentiality, and departmental requirements
  • To participate in training offered by the Counseling Service to University staff or students
  • To maintain current knowledge and capability in respect of counseling best practice
  • To help maintain good links between counselors and other University staff in order to promote effective referrals of students with difficulties
  • To liaise, and maintain professional relationships, with relevant external agencies and other healthcare professionals
  • To help building a professional and experienced counseling team;
  • To participate in and contribute to Counseling Service team meetings;
  • To help raising of the awareness of the importance of psychological wellbeing among students;
  • To contribute to the further development of the Counseling Service through initiatives and projects
  • To participate in the implementation of quality assurance and evaluation procedures
