Job Description:
New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is currently seeking a Community Life Coordinator to join their team. Reporting to the Community Life Manager the successful applicant will coordinate NYUAD’s internal community relations and support initiatives, and develop and coordinate a suite of activities for the community.

The Community Life services are aimed to create support mechanisms within the wider NYUAD community, including spouses and children. They also work closely with the University Events team to coordinate event logistics and venue preparation.

Job Requirements:

  •     Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of educaton, training or experience

Experience Requirements

  •     3 to 5 years administrative and operations experience
  •     High level interpersonal communication skills and cultural sensitivity
  •     Previous event organization and planning skills
  •     Demonstrated initiative, ability to problem solve and prioritize work tasks
  •     Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office software and graphic design software (Adobe InDesign etc.)
  •     High written and verbal communication skills
  •     Strong customer service orientation

  •     Familiarity with the Abu Dhabi region would be highly desirable
  •     Previous experience in university setting or large/global organization

Other Information
  •     Evening and weekend work will be required

Job Duties:
  •     Facilitate Community Life’s support and care services which includes: orientations for newly arrived families, coordination of special interest clubs,  providing information on social/ sports/ support groups, and develop and coordinate social activities that create opportunities for community involvement and promote a sense of overall well being
  •     Coordinate a portfolio of community activities engaging NYUAD and the local community such as coffee mornings, shopping trips, cultural activities, recreation opportunities etc.  Liaise with the University Events team on details related to booking, venue confirmations, event program, etc
  •     Assist the Community Life Manager with developing a monthly on-campus event schedule and off-campus visits and activities. Design and publish leaflets and flyers promoting community life events and activities.  Maintain and prepare soft/hard copies of information materials to keep the community informed. Send welcome emails to new hires informing them of the community life activities and services
  •     Maintain and update the Community Life intranet pages
  •     Monitor and maintain the Community Life budget with close coordination with the Finance Department. Ensure all developed activities are aligned to the Community Life budget, and identify additional funding where required
  •     Create and maintain a Community Life database for reporting needs. Generate ad hoc activity and status reports when required. Conduct research on specific projects, and prepare presentations as requested
  •     Coordinate the NYUAD community networking group and maintain a contact list
  •     Coordinate a community forum to encourage and develop a volunteer support group
