Job Description:
The Operational Research Manager is responsible for supporting the design, research and implementation of long-term strategic, innovative projects that give a commercial edge to Etihad Cargo, and its equity alliance/partnerships.

Job Requirements:
Qualification & Education:

  •     Bachelor’s degree in Research/Business/Physics/Geography or similar discipline
  •     MBA in Operational Research or related discipline would be preferable

  •     10 years working experience with an Operational Research Environment
  •     5 Years Analytical / Performance Management experience

Training & Knowledge:
  •     Thorough understanding of building, presenting and sponsoring Business Cases
  •     Strong negotiating and influencing skills, with the ability to motivate and develop both internal and external parties
  •     Industry leading numeracy skills
  •     Excellent communication skills
  •     Extensive knowledge and experience in related computer applications
  •     Experience in data mining essential
  •     Experience in database management is an essential
  •     Project Management skill
  •     Must be computer literate in Word, Excel, Power Point, etc/ Knowledge of MS Office application
  •     High familiarity with airline systems, such as GDS, MIDT, management accounting reports, etc

Job Duties:
  •     Strategic Development – The role provides a strategic advisory function, analyzing all data available, both internally & externally to provide long terms (12 month+) plans to support the growth and profitability of Etihad Cargo.
  •     Identifying industry trends to predict traffic flows and influence route development.
  •     Lead input to Cargo strategy and corporate medium/long term planning
  •     Competitor Analysis – Researching and evaluating customer propositions to recommend developments to maintain EY Cargos competitive advantage
  •     Data Mining– Business Partner with other areas of the business to provide specialist Operational Research knowledge and experience, defining data sources, algorithms, tools, data mining, and analysis techniques.
  •     Customer Segmentation – Review cargo customer base, identify strategies for growing segments of the market & identify new market opportunities
  •     Quantitative Analysis – Provide insight, interpretation and analysis of the relevant multiple data sources, using efficient Operational Research techniques to analyze mass data when required. Understand customer, route and product patterns and recommend strategies to increase revenues based on those trends.
  •     Decision Support - Provide interpretation of relevant data to support the business in the decision making process for major capital spends, long-term business plans, and investments
  •     Innovation – Looking at technology and innovation in the wider business market that could have applications in the air cargo industry and make recommendations for business benefits and champion trial and implementation of those technologies.
  •     O R Team – Manage and lead team of 3 direct reports to analyse data and support cargo strategic decision making
